Where to stay:  Deebert House Hotel is set in the rolling hills of Kilmallock, Co Limerick and is the gateway to Ballyhoura country and since the opening of Ballyhoura Way in 2007; they have hosted a plethora of adrenalin junkies! Ballyhoura is home to the largest trail network of its kind in Ireland – the cycle tracks include boardwalks, tight twisting single tracks, technical rocky obstacles & spectacular views. There are a number of trails to choose from, ranging from the relatively easy 6km to an arduous 50km and are not for the faint hearted!

 

What to do: If the lure of extreme cycling doesn’t do it for you, there are numerous walking trails, horse riding and a range of family activities in the area. The historical town of Kilmallock is definitely worth a visit, with its medieval walls and the close-by Lough Gur Heritage Centre will take you back to the Stone age; there’s evidence of habitation here since the Neolithic period.

 

Where to eat: After a adrenalin packed day, the last thing you want to worry about is finding a restaurant and luckily you need look no further than The Cloister Restaurant at Deebert House – the menu provides the finest in traditional & international fare and won’t disappoint hungry tummies!
